Thailand is a place of rich contrast, with pristine islands, bustling metropolitan cities, large temple complexes, built on a rich culture. With a thriving economy fuelled by innovation and tourism. Chiang Mai has recently become one of Thailand’s most interesting destinations for travelers. Inside the old city, there are a variety of interesting markets to explore and strange insects to snack on (no thanks). Be prepared to see live snakes, eels, turtles, scorpions, and bugs of all description.
We went to Chiang Mai in mountainous northern Thailand to visit the Elephant Nature Park. The park is a rescue and rehabilitation center for some of Thailands displaced, injured and at times tortured Elephants. The park actively seeking to buy Elephants and rescue animals that are in danger. The park gives visitors the opportunity to volunteer there time to help, feed, learn, and stay in the park. The money that this brings in helps to pay for the care and rehabilitation of these truly beautiful creatures. Being around the elephants is an experience you will never forget and I highly recommend going.
