I so wanted to hate Vegas for its self-indulgent, upsized, flashy, money driven, and overindulgent ways. The city that never should have been, located in Nevada and home to over one million people. It’s like visiting another planet (This was actually true for me).
I have traveled all over the world and never felt lost, but once I was inside some of these giant casino hotels like the Bellagio, Aria, Wynn, Venetian, Ceasers Palace, Cosmopolitan, and the Mirage it’s easy to see why people never leave. Basically, they lock you inside these complex mazes of mirrors and then red rope off the exits.
Everything you need, all in one place, like place dining, shopping, brands… You name it, they got it, slot machines, giant fucking slot machines. Oh, and Vegas is really close to the Valley of Fire and The Grand Canyon is just a few hours away but they don’t have air conditioning or slot machines.
That was me day 1… Day 2 I was much more accepting and by day 3 I was ready to pool party and get drunk. I knew I had to leave before I turned to the dark side, it wasn’t easy but in the end, I think taking the first bus out of Vegas on day 4, deeper into the Nevada Desert was ultimately for the best.
